Brakes
Your vehicle can have two types of automotive brake systems: drum brake or disc brakes. Both have master cylinders, brake pistons, brake lines, and brake hoses, and they work similarly. When you press the brake pedal, the pistons move along the core of the master brake cylinder and pressurize the brake fluid, sending it through the lines and hoses. Where the two systems differ is the parts that the fluid moves at the end of the system.
Disc brake systems use brake calipers to close brake pads onto brake rotors to create friction. A drum brake system has brake shoes that fasten to brake drums to generate the resistance that slows your wheels.
At some point, though, your brakes will start to wear out. Replacing them as quickly as possible is essential to your safety.
